Pregnancy and Antenatal
|
Attending any group or class for the first time can feel intimidating, but at Birthing and Beyond, we will make you feel welcome. At your first antenatal class in Eastbourne, it can help to know what to expect, so we have put together this blog so you will know what is likely to happen in your first class with us. Initially, we will welcome you all and allow you to introduce yourselves, your due date and gender of your baby, if you know and want to share. This is done in a fun but intimate way so each individual or couple has time to talk as much or as little as they would like. We will look at what you would like to get out of the course in our first time parents’ course in Eastbourne, we then move on to preparing you as much as possible for all realities of birth to allow you to be as mentally and physically prepared as possible.
We will look at hormones (the good, the bad and the ugly!) late pregnancy and early labour. We do some small group work as well as whole group discussions, looking at specific scenarios and what you could do if, for example, you start leaking fluid, or baby is moving less. During our discussions, we will look at real life scenarios and discuss what you could do, leaving you feeling more informed and in control of what to expect during late pregnancy, birth and beyond. We always stop halfway through for a hot drink, homemade cake and informal chat – a lovely moment for everyone to discuss the exciting future you are about to embark on. Being new to an antenatal class in Eastbourne might feel daunting, but remember everyone will be in the same situation and the antenatal class in Eastbourne will quickly become the highlight of your week!
